21 days of prayer

Day 4

January 8th

“Prayer Of Surrender” – Joel Leggett, Associate Pastor of Next Gen

Psalm 19:14
14 May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing to you, O LORD, my rock and my redeemer.

When fasting, I always find myself reflecting on my past year or recent events that have occurred. Throughout my reflection, I’m on a constant hunt to see if I honored God by the way I’ve treated my kids, honored my marriage and counseled my friends. This closing prayer that David prayed always brings my behavior into perspective for me, because we can all allow the stress and pressure of life to pull us away from honoring God with our actions. This prayer helps us to understand that real godliness is not only a matter of what we do, but also of what we say and think through our heart.

God, I pray that You help me consider what I say to others. I ask that You keep Your voice clear in my head and to keep me focused on the things that honor You. Help me to see immediately when I’m stepping out of who You called me to be, help me to be fruitful and not dishonoring to You. Thank You for being the rock on which I stand forever.
