21 days of prayer
Day 6
January 10th
“Communicate with God” – Chris Lotz, Executive Pastor
Psalm 5:1-3
Give ear to my words, O LORD, consider my sighing . Listen to my cry for help, my King and my God, for to you I pray. In the morning, O LORD, you hear my voice ; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation.
Many people go through life believing in God but having a half-hearted or even non-existent prayer life. I wonder if sometimes people have a difficult time with praying because there is a lot of mystic or misunderstanding about what prayer really is. We have to understand that prayer is very simply communicating with God. Think about that for a minute; Prayer is our ability to have a direct line of communication with the Creator of Heaven and Earth. We have the opportunity to talk directly to the One who hung the moon and stars in the sky. That is truly amazing if you think about it. More than that though, not only do I have access to God, but I can also talk to Him about anything that I want. Look at what David wrote in the book of Psalms... Psalm 5:1-3- Give ear to my words, O LORD, consider my sighing . ...
Think about the word sighing . Your sigh can mean different things. You could sigh because you are tired; you could sigh because you are overwhelmed; you can also sigh because you are unbelievably happy. You can literally have any conversation with God that you want to.
Look at the rest of what David says
...Listen to my cry for help, my King and my God, for to you I pray. In the morning, O LORD, you hear my voice ; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation.
What I love about communicating with God is that He listens to us regardless of what are sighs are. He hears every prayer that we ever pray to Him. More than that, He also responds. Whatever it is that you are praying and believing for, continue to wait with expectation on His response.
Prayer: Dear Lord, thank You for the opportunity that I have to come to You in prayer. I know that You care for me and You hear me when I pray. I pray that You give me the ears to hear and the heart to receive Your response and help me to have a heart to honor Your will regardless of what it is. Amen.
