21 days of prayer

Day 17

January 21st

“Replace Worry with Prayer” – Chris Lotz, Executive Pastor

Philippians 4:6
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything , by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, p resent your requests to God.

One of my favorite scriptures in the Bible about prayer is Philippians 4:6. I love it because who doesn’t worry sometimes? I mean, it’s not biblical to worry, but I can’t say that I don’t.

However, this verse helps to remind me that no matter what I am dealing with, I can take it to the Lord. You see, when I worry, I keep those things within me. Worry causes me to try and figure it all out. When I worry, it is like I need to have the answers, even though I know I don’t.

When I shift that worry to prayer, I take that weight and give it to God. Replacing worry with prayer means that I know I don’t have the answers, so I give it to the one who does. It means that even though I don’t know what to do, I have now entrusted my worry to the One who orders my steps. When I replace my worry with prayer, I put God in the right place of my life... the center.

Prayer: Dear God, help me to replace the things that I am worried about with prayer. I recognize that by worrying, I actually have been leaving You out of my life. I have tried to figure it all out and I know that I can’t. However, I know that there is nothing to which you don’t have a solution. Help me recognize that in the times I am tempted to worry that I need to instead turn to You and allow for You to do what you do best... Be God! Amen.
